Operational & Administrative Support Manager

Hands‑On Role in a High‑Tech Scale‑Up (Eindhoven Region)

Job description: BRIGHT Photonics is looking for a hands‑on, organized, and proactive Operational & Administrative Support Manager who enjoys getting things done and keeping a growing high‑tech company running smoothly. This is not a “sit back and delegate” role — you’ll be doing the actual admin work, supporting daily operations, and helping us build structure as we scale.

What You’ll Be Doing

    Administrative & Office Support

  • Keep our documentation, records, and correspondence organized and up‑to‑date.
  • Handle day‑to‑day admin tasks: planning, follow‑ups, preparing documents, keeping things structured.
  • Arrange meetings, logistics, and practical support for management and technical teams.
  • Take care of office operations and facility needs — from ordering supplies to making sure everything runs smoothly.

    Operational Support

  • Take ownership of day‑to‑day operational workflows and make sure information flows smoothly between engineering, commercial, and management.
  • Handle practical HR‑ and finance‑related administrative tasks such as maintaining personnel files, updating asset lists, tracking equipment, processing basic invoices or purchase records, and keeping internal data organized.
  • Keep inventories, equipment lists, and asset tracking up‑to‑date — you’re the one who maintains the overview.
  • Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in daily operations and propose practical improvements — in a scale‑up, your ideas and initiative really matter.

    Order Management & Procurement

  • Process incoming and outgoing orders accurately and on time.
  • Support procurement: contacting suppliers, placing orders, tracking deliveries.
  • Act as a reliable link between customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.

    Contract & Documentation Control

  • Perform first checks on contracts and NDAs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Keep our legal, operational, and quality documents well‑structured and easy to find.
  • Maintain controlled documents such as SOPs, templates, and quality files.

    Communication & Coordination

  • Be a central point of contact for colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ensure clear, professional communication in Dutch and English.
  • Support management with preparing presentations, reports, and structured updates.

What You Bring:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple tasks running smoothly.
  • High attention to detail — especially in orders, documentation, and communication.
  • Clear and friendly communication in Dutch and English.
  • A proactive, problem‑solving mindset: you see what needs to be done and take action.
  • Comfortable with office software (text editors, spreadsheets, CRM/ERP systems).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with different teams.Proven hands-on experience in photonic or semiconductor test automation.

Preferred Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or similar — or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in operations, administration, procurement, or customer support.
  • Experience with Dutch Tax system.
  • Experience with NDAs, contracts, or basic HR/Finance processes.
  • Affinity with high‑tech, photonics, or engineering environments — or curiosity to learn.

Photonic Integrated Circuits Test Engineer

Job description: BRIGHT Photonics is a design house in integrated photonics, supporting customers worldwide in developing next‑generation PIC‑based solutions. As a Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Test Engineer, you will play a central role in validating photonic designs, developing test setups, and delivering high‑quality measurement data to our customers, design and simulation teams. You will work in a compact, multidisciplinary environment where ownership, teamwork, and technical curiosity are highly valued. Your work will span multiple exciting application domains, including LiDAR systems, quantum communication chips, advanced optical sensors, and across emerging photonic integration technologies..

Key responsibilities:

  • Set up, execute, and refine optical and electrical measurements for PIC prototypes and customer projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve photonic test benches using lasers, modulators, detectors, RF equipment, and optical components.
  • Characterize PIC building blocks such as lasers, MZ modulators, AWGs, filters, photodiodes, and passive structures.
  • Automate measurement workflows using Python or similar scripting tools.
  • Analyze and interpret measurement data, providing clear feedback to design and simulation teams, and customers.
  • Prepare high‑quality documentation, including measurement plans and reports.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of measurement accuracy, throughput, and methodology.
  • Support customers in understanding measurement results and optimizing their PIC designs.

What You Bring:

  • MSc or PhD in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands‑on experience testing and characterizing Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).
  • Practical experience with optical test equipment such as tunable lasers, OSAs, power meters, polarization controllers, and VNAs.
  • Solid understanding of integrated photonics platforms (SiPh, InP, SiN).
  • Strong skills in data analysis and automation (Python preferred).
  • Familiarity with RF measurements and high‑speed modulators is an advantage.
  • Ability to debug complex opto‑electronic systems.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • A proactive, hands-on, independent working style combined with a collaborative mindset.

Additional Assets:

  • Experience with PCB design; Hands-on experience with soldering and wire-bonding.
  • Experience in high-throughput or wafer-level photonics testing.
  • Exposure to packaging processes or cleanroom environments.

Senior Photonics Engineer

Job description: BRIGHT Photonics is seeking a talented and motivated senior photonics engineer to work on our commercial and R&D projects in the application areas such as telecommunication, datacommunication, sensing, microwave photonics, and biophotonics. You will be designing a variety of photonic components and devices on different technology platforms, such as, Si, InP, SiN, PLC. You will have opportunities to characterize fabricated components and circuits. You will directly engage with customers on PIC design support, defining device specification, preparing concept studies. Part of the job will be related to improving design flow, participating in development of in-house design tools, and development of compact models. You will engage in projects definition and project management. This position is for a senior level and independent professional with 2+ years of industrial experience.

  • Experience in using computational methods to design photonic components, (e.g. in EM simulations, BPM, FDTD).
  • Excellent communication skills in English both oral and writing.

Senior Photonics System & RF Engineer

Job description: BRIGHT Photonics is seeking for a talented and motivated Photonics System & RF Engineer to work on our commercial and R&D projects in photonic integration technologies. You will be developing next generation R&D photonic integrated systems in a multi-disciplinary team. Your role will span from capturing requirements and specification, through design of photonic components, design of high-speed RF interfaces, development, verification and deployment. You will directly engage with our customers and suppliers, and engage in projects definition and project management. This position is for a senior level and independent professional with 4+ years of experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Capture and refine specification of photonics systems and interact with technology providers and customers on device/system development.
  • Design, simulate, model and solve high-tech system problems (i.e. photonics, optical, opto-mechanical, mechanical, electronical).
  • Design, simulation and layout work on photonic components and photonic integrated circuits.
  • Design RF interfaces, simulate and analyze signal integrity of high speed interconnects.
  • Plan and perform tests at the system and sub-system level of opto-electronic devices.
  • Contribute to the development of in-house design tool in the high-speed RF domain.

Key qualifications:
